Ultrasonography uses high-frequency acoustic (ultrasound) waves to view internal body structures such as tendons, joints, muscles, organs, and vessels. They can be used to view injuries or the healing process at problem sites. Commonly they are used to monitor reproductive cycles and fetal development in pregnancy for the broodmare.
